​When we approached Michael to make a film about his experience of homelessness, 
we were humbled by his openness to share some of the complexities that he is dealing with despite his strong will and determination to reintegrate into society.
A crucial part of Michael’s journey has been joining a music band called The Messengers. The palpable sense of togetherness that we witnessed when spending time with the band seemed to be the antidote to the increasingly alienated and individualistic society that Michael is facing. We saw the powerful sense of belonging that Michael experienced in the band, and the pride he took in being part of it.
Homelessness is a complicated issue, and we don’t try and solve the problem with this film, but we look at how vital community is to a person’s wellbeing. We hope that this film serves as a poignant reminder that community, intertwined with a purpose beyond oneself, possesses the ability to fortify and empower individuals on their unique paths.
